The Colorado Sequence

12

Physicist Dr. Amy Levine has discovered a mathematical sequence--the Colorado Sequence--that describes an underlying pattern and a guiding force within the very fabric of reality. Now she's on the verge of an astonishing breakthrough, and the U.S. government wants to know how she has done it. How has Dr. Levine learned to accurately predict the future? And they're willing to kill her to find out. Levine and a group of friends escape to Colorado to unravel the mystery of the sequence, but there they become snowbound. They must locate a secret treasure room, find a hidden key, and answer an ancient riddle before a devastating eruption destroys them all ... and the power of the Colorado Sequence is lost forever.

We don't talk like that here
This is about the *podcast* so it concerns the reader, producers and yes, the author: we're not hicks in Colorado- not where they are by about the 8th episode. And your pronunciation? I'm expecting him to mispronounce "Grand Junction" about now. I know he'd mess up Buena Vista so why not? By this time my expectations have sunk but I'm going to forge on with permission to inwardly shriek about Coloradoan's* dialogue as mutilated by a coalition of language destroyers. * I chose this one. Some people choose the other one. If you don't know what I'm talking about it's fine.

    Make a decision already!
Great plot... But how long does it take for the characters to make a decision?!?! seems like the author is just filling space with pointless conversation between people and makes it a tough, boring listen. But if you can get past that, good story.

    colorado sequence
Very well written and well narrated. You may feel at times in the middle it gets bogged down in details, BUT it all weaves into a gripping, substational meaning, so hang on to every word. My hat's off to the writer, and the narrator who makes it all come alive.

    Boring!
This started out to be an exciting podcast; then have way thru it was extreamly boring. Why did we have to listen to chapter after chapter of stuff such as the color of the thread on the elevator carpet; the endless ways you can did out a tunnel of snow.....boring, boring, boring.

    Metric or Imperial Units?
A unique and interesting story, but not told by a story teller. The mix of metric and imperial units was distracting and the constant cardinal directions were dry.

    couldn't finish this one
The story started out grabbing my interest, then took a weird turn at the half way point and quickly became a series of boring conversations between characters that lacked imagination, and the action took a twilight zone turn. I cannot recommend this one.

    An Excellent Epic Tale
This book is not to be missed by any true devotee of fantasy/sci fi. The story is imaginative, fresh, and well written, and moves along well. Stacey has gone to the time and expense to have a budding professional voice do the narration, and Owen does a journeyman's job. Now that it's complete, you will be spared the often lengthy paused between episodes experienced during the live feed. There are some plot gaps (the heroine foresees her friend attacked on a stack of gold coins, but fails to warn her when they have to cross a stack of gold coins, etc), but the gaps are minor compared to the power of the story. I give it 5 stars based on the wonderful creative effort. Strong work Stacey, I cannot wait to see what's next.

    A tale of two stories...
Halfway through the book, I gave it 5 stars. After finishing it, I want to give it two (but ended up giving it three). I have to review it as two stories. The first half is GREAT. A few glaring plot holes, but the action made up for them and it was enjoyable. The second half was... bad. Still had some good scenes that moved along, but the plot holes I mentioned earlier continued to pile up to the point where the story became a bunch of scenes haphazardly put together. The story had epic promise ("epic" as in C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, etc) but the plot in the second half... I could give many examples but I don't want to give any spoilers if you decide to listen to it. It is obvious the author put alot of work into the story and I never want to be the one that trashes another's labor of love, but the story's ending just didn't live up to its promise. A shame, really, because it did have a great premise.
